Shadow Fox Farm Updated: 6/26/08 News Flash It is with heavy heart that I tell you that our dear Aragonas (Sporty) passed away today. Thanks for all the effort of Dr. Sullins to try to save him. Sporty had extensive cysts in his sinus area that had begun to bleed out his nose and into his lungs. One extended up in front of his brain. The surgery went well to remove the cysts but he had a neurologic seizure 24 hours after surgery. All attempts were made at the hospital to save him but he has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge to run in the Clouds with his sire, Argentinus. Below are some of my good times with Sporty. I will miss him so very much. He was one of the most special horses I have ever owned, and went through alot together. Rest in Peace Sweet Sporty!

Aragonas (aka Sporty) and Laura Photo Credit: Pics of You If you are interested in one of our horses for sale or would like to request a video please give us a call. We like to talk in person as it helps answer questions about suitability of horse and rider up front. Farm number: 703-754-1055 or Laura's Cell: 703-819-2132 We have recently found that email is not always a reliable format of communication. We receive a high volume of junk mail and your email message might end up in the junk mail box or may not get through our junk mail filters. It is sometimes difficult to distinguish a serious horse shopper from some of the junk mail, so please give us a moment of your time so that we may give you some of our time to answer your questions and video requests. We would be happy to call you back if you leave a message with your phone numbers and a good time to reach you. We do have pictures of all of our sales horses on the Sales page. Thanks for your consideration and patience. Many of the horses we offer for sale have been pre-vetted with a full complement of digital films and diagnosis by some of the most respected lameness vets in the USA. You will find that we are totally open and honest about our horses strengths and weaknesses. We can assure you that every horse we have bred and raised has been extremely well cared for. We worm every 4-5 weeks. We vaccinate regularly. We employ some of the best farriers to assure our horses are trimmed and shod in balance. We employ top vets and equine dentists to ensure our horses are healthy. We do not cut corners in these areas. We start them slowly and carefully. We handle them often. Laura and Riviera

![]() About Our Farm Shadow Fox Farm was established in 1990 with the goal to breed, import, ride, show and sell the highest quality Hanoverian and German Oldenburg Verband horses possible. We are a small farm with no more than 12-14 horses. We represent a young Hanoverian Stallion (in partnernship), named Rhode Scholar in the US market. . This stallion is licensed and has successfully completed his 100 day test Summer/Fall of 2001 at Warendorf, Germany. He stands at the stud of Ludwig Kathmann in the Oldenburg area of Germany. He is approved German Oldenburg Verband and Hanoverian. He earned the 2nd highest score in dressage and earned very high scores of 8's and 9's for character, rideability and all three gaits. He is by the famous Rohdiamant (ridden by Lisa Wilcox) (Rubinstein/Inshallah), out of SPS Gardenia (Grafenburg/Akzent II/Grenadier). There is more information about him on our stallion page. We are offering high quality frozen semen to a limited book of mares for the 2001 and 2002 season. To date, Rhodes Scholar frozen semen has been very successful. 60% of all mares bred to him with frozen semen conceived on one insemination. We have purchased the most outstanding quality mares possible from proven bloodlines to establish our breeding program over the last ten years. Every mare we have bred, raised, trained and prepared for Mare Performance Tests in the USA has scored in the Top Ten in the USA This test involves an under saddle portion equivalent to a 1st level dressage test judged on gaits and rideability. The 2nd portion of the Mare test requires the mare to negotiate a Jump Chute with obstacles as high as 4'6" to 5'. We are constantly searching for the best stallion matches for our mares. We are always seeking knowledge to keep current on the latest bloodlines, the most current breeding reproductive techniques and nutritional standards. We attend many of the stallion licensing's, auctions and educational events in Germany and the USA so that we can learn what bloodlines work together and the best direction for the American breeder and rider. We accomplish our stallion selections through the use of imported frozen semen, domestic stallions, and occasionally leaving a mare in Germany to be bred to stallions not accessible in the US. We are now breeding fillies that will be used as our foundation stock as well. Many of our bloodlines originate from the Top 10 Stallions in the Hanoverian Stallion year book: Rubin Royal, Feiner Stern, Ravallo, Raphael, Matula, Matcho, Furioso xx, Donnershlag, Donnerhall, Don Primero, Don Gregory, Goldstern, Prince Thatch xx, Regazzoni, Rotspon, Rubinstein, Contucci, Ruiz Solier, Wenzel. Most of these stallions either won their 100 day test, were successful in competition or proved their performance value through their successful offspring. All of the mares at Shadow Fox Farm are either States or Verbands Premium, Elite or Champion mares of their Inspections. All of the mares have been performance tested, competed successfully and are highly decorated mares. All mares are ridden lightly until they are too far along in their pregnancy. Our goal is to breed the highest quality Hanoverians and German Oldenburgs suitable for Amateur and Professional riders. Temperament is paramount, but correctness, elasticity, rideability and beauty will not be sacrificed. We primarily breed and train dressage horses but always strive to prepare an athletic horse that can excel in different disciplines. In addition, we sometimes import or breed horses that are versatile for both jumping and dressage disciplines. All foals are imprinted and handled often. By the time a foal is sold and leaves for its new home, it has been taught to lead, load, bathe, work in hand, be clipped and stand for the farrier. In some cases, the young horses are shown in hand at the Mid-Atlantic dressage breeding shows. As a result of this show experience, we find the foals are well adjusted to the show ring environment and don't mind all of the activity associated with trips away from home. By the time the youngsters are 3 years old and ready to be backed, they are worldly and sensible about new environments. We invite you to visit our farm if you plan to come horse shopping in Virginia or the Mid-Atlantic area. We are 20 minutes from the Washington Dulles airport. We are members of: USA Equestrian, USDF, VADA, German Hanoverian Verband, German Oldenburg Verband, American Hanoverian Society, Mid-Atlantic Hanoverian Breeders Club (MAHB) and are within a one to two hour drive of some of the most popular European warmblood breeders and stallion owners on the east coast including:
We would be happy to arrange appointments for you to visit our horses and our neighboring breeders as well.
